Why do photographers charge more than photography studios in stores?
Some have asked in the past, why photographers charge so much. It takes a lot of work before and especially after a session to produce our art. There are photography studios out there that are inexpensive, quick and you walk out with instant portraits. But that's the extent of it. I always was a bit disapointed and felt like I was just a number in a long line of people rotating in and out. I remember this one time, the photographer was so inexperienced that I had to step in, grab props from the shelves and do my own setup for her. That's when it clicked, not only do I love photography, I have a passion for it. I wanted to capture moments, feelings and not just poses. I read this article recently that explained how important creative photography is. What do I wear?
It's up to you! Your wardrobe should fit your personality and of course the season. Some suggestions are to build the outfits around the person who is the hardest to dress. Find the one outfit you definitely want...such as your childs and build your outfits around that. Outfits do not have to match, but it's nice visually to see the same tones. Make sure your outfits are comfortable, even to sit on the ground in. You never know what I might have you do!
How long are sessions?
It can take about an hour for a session, maybe hour and half for 5 or more people. That inlcudes breaks in between, letting kids just be kids, finding cool spots for photos.
How long will it take for me to get my proofs?
I will always send a sneak peek withing two days of the session. It can take about a week sometimes more for the full session to be edited and ready for viewing. I work really hard editing all photos and getting it to you in a reasonable time!
What if my child gets sick or it rains?
Things happen. Having kids of my own, I completely understand. If that happens or the weather is bad, we would reschedule.
What is involved in a newborn session?
A lot goes into a newborn session. I will come to your home and take some beautiful shots of you and your new addition. Since I work only with natural light, it's best to have a large window that gives a lot of light to work with. Plus also note, that I do not have any studio sets or lighting kits. I work only with what is in your home. I have some props that can be used, but I loved using the surrounding to make it the most natural pictures possible. We will take pictures in the nursey and possibly other locations of the home. Depending on the weather, we also have outdoors as an option. Newborn sessions can take up to 3 hours to complete. This includes breaks for the family and baby. We want to baby to be as comfortable as possible, so feeding before taking pictures is ideal. Keep the temperature in your home a little warmer than usual, or keep a room heater blowing towards the baby so he/she will be as comfortable as possible. Any questions feel free to contact me!
